The warm climate, proximity to water, and the high level of human activity creates an ideal environment for pests in Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Miramar, Sandestin, and Santa Rosa Beach. Some of the most common pests include mosquitoes, rats, mice, and stinging insects. Effective pest management strategies, including regular inspections, proper sanitation, and professional pest control services, are essential for homeowners and vacation rentals mitigate the risks associated with these common pests.

Should I Call an Exterminator for Pest Control?

It depends on the pest. Exterminators and wildlife control operators both provide pest management and pest control. While sharing the common goal of keeping human dwellings free of pests, there are key differences between the two.

Exterminators are state-licensed technicians trained to kill insects, bugs, and rodents using chemical products, baits, and traps. They apply solutions to interior and exterior spaces of homes, offices, restaurants, warehouses, and other structures. They create a plan of action that typically involves repeated chemical applications to treat areas where pests are active. For pests like ants and termites, this is a perfectly acceptable solution. Wildlife control operators can provide extermination services in addition to animal trapping and exclusions.

Exterminators aim to get rid of pests using a combination of techniques. They begin with a pest inspection of the property to develop a treatment plan. They do not always figure out the source of the pest problem, which means you may experience future pest problems.

At Critter Control, we use various methods to eliminate and prevent rodent activity. “Control” refers to how we provide long-term rat removal solutions. The size and location of the rat infestation in your home will determine what method we will use to remove them. Rat control starts with trapping. Once the population is under control inside, we install exclusions around your home to keep rats out. Finally, an ongoing maintenance program including bait stations around your house, provide a long-term rat control solution.

Mosquito Exterminator

Florida has ideal conditions for mosquitoes year-round. Mosquito barrier spray is one of the most effective means for mosquito control for your yard. The mosquito spray eliminates mosquitoes by instantly killing the adults and prevent the mosquito eggs from hatching. At Critter Control, we offer recurring mosquito control services. Add the service to any recurring services.

Bee & Wasp Exterminator

Stinging insects like wasps and bees are a problem during the summer. Wasp and bee extermination is sometimes necessary in order to protect you and your family from painful and occasionally dangerous stings.

Getting rid of wasps and hornets can be tricky when their nests are in unique places. Without an effective wasp pest management program, there is a good chance the stringing insect problem will return. We will work with you to assess the stinging insect problem and develop an effective pest management program to keep hornets and wasps away. Stinging insect control doesn’t stop at extermination. The nests and hives can attract other pests like raccoons, rats, and roaches.

Critter Control for All Your Pest Problems

Using an integrated approach to pest control, our highly trained, licensed technicians understand the pests that plague our homes and businesses. Critter Control has over forty years of experience and training to solve any pest problem.

Exterminators control pests by routinely applying pesticides or insecticides. Exclusion is the practice of altering the environment in which you live to make it less accessible to wildlife.

Considered to be more humane than many other pest control methods, it generally means erecting barriers to reduce access of wildlife to resources such as food, cover, and water. After removing all pests from a given location, the wildlife control professional will search the building for specific points of entry, which will then be repaired.

Additional pest prevention products target entry points, attics and crawl spaces, adding an extra layer of protection and peace of mind for you and your family. TAP insulation for attics, moisture barriers for crawl spaces, and specially engineered weather stripping for garage and entry doors not only deter rodents and other destructive pests from entering and living in your home, they’re energy efficient, too.

The most frequent entry points for pests on your house need to be repaired after an infestation:

  • Rooflines. There are many points on your roof that can provide animals with access to your home, including attic vents, turbine vents, roof flashings, gutter lines, and more.
  • Soffits. A soffit is the horizontal underside of the eave, or the extended portion of the roof over the edge of the house, which usually contain screens to ventilate the attic. Squirrels are the primary offenders when it comes to soffits, because they can chew right through soffit vents—if they are flimsy enough—and gain direct access to your attic, where they like to nest.
  • Vent openings. Modern homes are full of appliances, many of which require vents to function properly. Since these vents must be open to the outside to expel gases, they are also open to pests.
  • Windows and doors. That tiny gap in your window trim might not look especially problematic, but the grim reality is that mice can fit through holes just a quarter of an inch in size. The good news is, small gaps in window trim can easily be sealed with caulk and specially engineered weather stripping.
  • Cracks and holes around foundations. Small holes in a house’s foundation can let in small animals like snakes and rodents.
  • Chimneys. Chimneys must be able to open to the sky to expel smoke, and many people don’t bother closing their flues, which can let animals in.
