Pests and nuisance wildlife damage your property, including unsanitary messes, that can be challenging to fix for homeowners. Our experts handle repairs and cleanups so you can have the peace of mind your home is safe.

Wildlife Control

Wildlife spend much of their time searching for food, water, and nesting areas. If they can access home or outdoor structures, they will, especially if food and water resources are nearby. Having nuisance wildlife in your home leads to costly damage repairs and unsanitary living environments. Critter Control experts know how to remove wildlife, repair damage, and protect you from future infestations.

Attic Vents

Most attic vents like gable vents, dormer vents, roof ridge vents, and fascia vents are designed for air flow in the attic and cannot stop a raccoon, squirrel, rat, or bird from getting into your attic. Once in the attic, they can create a hazardous environment, exposing your family to dangers.

Squirrels

Do you hear scurrying early in the morning above your ceilings? It might be squirrels. In the fall, squirrels look for secure spaces to give birth and sheltered areas for the winter.

Squirrels can give birth twice a year, with one of those times being in late winter, around February and March. Taking care of a litter will be a priority, including feeding and keeping them warm. You can watch for specific signs that suggest you have a squirrel living in your home, like hearing odd sounds coming from your attic or other parts of your home. Squirrel sounds include chirping, squeaking, barking, grunting, and gnawing.

Opossums

Opossums are likely to take advantage of an open basement, crawlspace, or area underneath a porch or deck to build a nest for shelter from the cold weather. They carry diseases, so avoiding getting scratched or bitten is crucial. Since opossums do not hibernate in winter, it is common for people to see the pests out and about year-round. The animals scavenge in the garbage when food is scarce and are known to den under sheds, porches, and decks. Our technicians have safety gear and equipment to remove opossums.

Raccoons

As the weather cools, raccoons prepare for the winter. Raccoons do not hibernate but will enter dormant states when it gets really cold. Raccoons are well-known for creating a warm den inside your home. They prefer attics, porches, sheds, crawlspaces, and chimneys. Raccoons are avid climbers and can sneak into your home through small spaces, like broken screens or windows.

A raccoon under a roof
Mice

It is not uncommon for the sightings of mice to increase during the winter. Mice look for warmer habitats when the cold weather arrives. They can squeeze through a hole the a quarter of an inch in diameter so they can find their way into most houses. Mice spread diseases, damage your house, and contaminate your food. Call a professional at the first sign of a mouse infestation.

Rats

Rats do not hibernate; in fact, they are quite active during winter. During the winter, rats will seek out warmer shelters, such as inside homes, buildings, or other structures, to escape the cold. Rats may become more active at night and spend more time foraging for food, as their food sources may be scarce during the winter months. Rat breeding does slow down during colder months, but that doesn’t mean it stops altogether. A growing colony of these pests can cause serious structural damage to an infested home.

Bats

Depending on the species, bats either hibernate or migrate during the winter. All bat species in the United States are insectivores. The cold weather limits the supply of insects. So during the winter, bats must migrate or hibernate.

If you live in southern states, you might find migrating bats in your attic. People in Northern states can find hibernating bats. If bats have hibernated or migrated, call a professional. Evicting bats when its too cold can lead to the bats starving.

Birds

Birds can create problems for residential and commercial properties. Their droppings contain mold spores and can stain homes, sidewalks, and buildings. Some bird species colonize in large groups, increasing the hazards. Some groups can become aggressive toward humans. Critter Control has multiple ways to exclude birds and effectively prevent future issues.

Critter Control is made up of a tightly knit group of individuals that work very well with each other. It's no surprise that each individual at Critter Control works extremely well with the home owner. The concise and timely communication, the cordiality on the phone and in person, the effort to meet and exceed expectations is prevalent in each interaction. This is my second utilization of their services, the first being back in the late 90s for mice that made their way into our apartment. This time round it was for moles which I had a problem with last year. It turned out it was a gopher that had gained entry to the old mole's tunnels. An array of traps were set that ultimately led the critter directly into the clutches of Critter Control! I am VERY HAPPY with the entire experience, from first call to capture! A five star experience! Steve, you guys are top notch! Rob and his father Chris handled business at my location during some of the hottest days of August. Rob partnered with me in an effort to increase the chances of capture. He directed me to water the trap area so the dry dirt didn't fall in when checking/setting traps. Upon the next visit, Chris exhumed the critter and communicated his findings promptly and professionally...Confirmation that knowledge within Critter Control is concise and specific to the capture of each critter.
