Murfreesboro, TN, attracts hardy wildlife pests that are able to survive the variable climate. Rats, mice, and raccoons are common in the area. Known to seek warmth and shelter in homes, rats and mice contaminate food supplies and gnaw on wires and cables. Also, the rodents transmit infectious diseases such as Hantavirus, salmonellosis, and rat-bite fever. While raccoons usually live in forests and marshes, the pests see cities as additional land to scavenge for food. They carry rabies, which can be passed to people and pets.

Squirrel Removal

Squirrels are a common sight throughout metro Nashville, and it should be no surprise: the state is home to five species of squirrels. In particular, the Eastern gray squirrel is most commonly found scurrying across front yards and public parks.

When squirrels find their way inside homes, however, they can wreak havoc and can be difficult to capture and remove. Squirrels generally breed twice a year and often move into Tennessee homes to give birth to young. Breeding typically happens December-February and May-June

Although the state offers a long squirrel hunting season from August through February and permits hunters to harvest up to 10 squirrels per day, it’s still best to contact your Nashville-based Critter Control office to remove nuisance squirrels from your home.

Inspection: Piles of debris and gnawing marks on wood and wires are the usual signs of the presence of squirrels inside one’s home. Your Critter Control specialist will also make note of possible points of entry around your home.

Removal: Please let our wildlife specialist use a humane removal method such as capturing the squirrel(s) with a live trap or installing a one-way door rather than attempting to chase a squirrel out with a broom.

Repairs: After we remove the squirrel(s) our specialist will seal up all entry points that invited the squirrels into your home and remove all feces and debris left behind.
