Bat Inspection
We perform a full interior and exterior inspection and search for signs such as rub marks, guano, a strong scent of ammonia, and small openings. The most common sign is the accumulation of guano (feces).
Bats are amazing animals. Without them, our ecosystem would be out of balance. Some species of bats eat thousands of insects nightly. Although bats are incredible and have earned their spot as protected animals at the state and federal levels, you don’t want bats in the home.
Bat droppings can damage contaminate and degrade the insulation in your attic. The guano can also spread the respiratory illness histoplasmosis.
In New Jersey, bats are protected by the NJ Endangered and Nongame Species Conservation Act of 1973. It is illegal to remove physically or poison bats roosting inside a house. Snap traps or glue traps should not be used where bats are present!
If you have a bat infestation, call Critter Control of New Jersey for safe and effective bat removal.
Bats are most likely to get inside your house during their maternity season. Bats give birth in summer and look for safe places to give birth and raise the pups. For the first few weeks, bat pups cannot fly.
New Jersey safe days for exclusion April 1-30 and August 1-October 15.
Bats in New Jersey tend to roost in unoccupied areas of your home like attics, wall voids, under siding, or inside vents. The most humane and effect bat removal process includes bat valves and exclusions either before the females give birth or after the pups can fly on their own.

The most effective and humane way to remove bats is by utilizing a bat valve in conjunction with a full home exclusion. A bat valve allows for bats to exit your home but not re-enter. We follow all local ordinances for humane bat removal. We will never abandon flightless pups in your attic.
After removing the bat valves, we seal the entrance hole(s) so bats can no longer enter your home. Bats will leave your attic at the end of the summer but can return to established roost locations.
Once the bats are gone, we clean up the bat guano and replace the soiled attic insulation.
