Humane Animal Control

A dangerous or bothersome animal that comes too close for comfort becomes a wildlife control problem. Animals like raccoons, rats, bats, squirrels, flying squirrels, woodchucks, voles, and other nuisance wildlife carry diseases and parasites that can be transmitted to humans.

Left unattended, wild animals also can quickly cause a great deal of damage to your home, including damage to your attic, crawlspace and basement resulting in chewed wires, fires, matted and damaged insulation, holes in heating and cooling ducts and more. Critter Control provides nuisance wildlife control services to homeowners, businesses and municipalities, so you can get back to the things that matter.

Animal trapping is an effective wildlife control strategy that's both humane and eco-friendly for certain species

Trapping Nuisance Wildlife

Professional animal trappers know what type of trap to use, where to place them, how to bait them, and how often to check them.

  • Raccoons -- Live trapping is the most effective and humane way to remove a raccoon. Raccoon trapping requires a sturdy trap. Cage and box traps are preferable to foothold traps.
  • Opossums --  Opossums can easily be trapped with a cage, box, body-gripping, or foothold traps.
  • Skunks --Skunks can be captured with cage or box traps.
  • Birds -- Occasionally, live traps will be used, especially if flocks of birds are involved.

For some species like bats, we are not allowed to legally trap them. Trapping is ineffective for squirrels and other species. Regardless of the wildlife removal strategy, exclusion services provide the only permanent solution to your wildlife problem.

CritterSafe Wildlife Inspection

During the CritterSafe inspection, our technicians look for animal infestation signs like droppings, rub marks, and animal damage.

CritterSafe considers the following in helping you resolve wildlife conflicts safely and humanely:

Is it a problem at all? For example, if a family of fox makes a den in your neighborhood, will they attack your child or your pet? Educating you about the natural history of wild animals may help you see that they are not a threat.

Collect information. Once a wildlife problem has been identified, it’s necessary to positively identify the species involved, the extent of the damage, whether young animals are present, and what humane animal removal management procedures can be used to resolve the issue permanently.

Assess the seriousness of the problem. Important considerations include the impact on the animals involved, safety or health concerns to people or pets, likelihood of recurrence and whether the animal damage appears to be seasonal or ongoing.

Get the facts and consider the options. Taking action should be your last step. Humane wildlife exclusion, eco-friendly animal repellents, changing human cultural practices, and habitat modification are all viable, humane strategies.

Will the action solve the problem or merely address the symptoms? The humane wildlife control solution needs to address the underlying cause of the problem to be effective over the long-term.

Why Choose Critter Control?

Appreciating wildlife and the natural environment we share is one of the first steps in resolving wildlife conflicts with humans. Tolerance and understanding solve many perceived “wildlife problems” borne from irrational fears. Bats and snakes, for example, are beneficial to the environment, but are rarely a danger to humans. While there are times when we can let nature take care of itself, sometimes wildlife conflicts must be resolved to prevent further damage to our homes and property, and to protect human health and safety.

Since 1983 the Critter Control concept has called for humane animal control and environmentally responsible techniques when taking care of nuisance animal problems, including wildlife control, animal removal, animal damage repair, animal exclusion and pest control prevention services. We use innovative, integrated methods to provide ecologically sound animal control services for homeowners, businesses and municipalities.

Critter Control’s certified wildlife specialists benefit from the decades of experience. Their training and experience to quickly identify the wild animal causing the problem. We work with you to develop a plan remove the nuisance animal, prevent future animal infestation, and repair animal damage.

I connected Critter Control Orlando and was surprised, though elated that an actual person quickly answered. She was pleasant and efficiently scheduled a visit to my house to solve my varmit problem. The appointment was the next day. As arranged, I got a call from Ryan the next morning to tell me his eta. He arrived right on time and after explaining the procedure, got right to work. After a survey of our attic, he told us the problem and gave us a price to fix it. He explained exactly what would be done and an approximate number of visits it would take. I found Ryan to be easy to communicate with and an excellent customer relations person. I will be recommending Critter Control to my friends and neighbors.

After months of fighting moles in our yard ourselves and with the help of a landscaper, with no success, Critter Control caught a mole within a week. Very reasonably priced and very thorough. They’re the experts! We should have called them a lot sooner.

After having a corner of our home’s foundation dug up by a family of groundhogs, I called Critter Control and met with Bryan. We tried traps but those darned groundhogs were too smart (they even passed up marshmallows—who does that?!). Bryan suggested fencing the area to keep them out, and it was expertly installed today by Dave. Looks neat, very secure and (hopefully) impenetrable! Bryan was always responsive to my calls and I’m a very satisfied customer; I highly recommend Critter Control!
