How Did the Raccoon Get Inside the Attic?

The raccoon climbed up the gutter and found a weakness under the soffit. It popped out a screen and squeezed into the house.

Raccoons can have more than one entry and exit point, especially if there are multiple vulnerable points. In this case, we found raccoon feces on the roof. After further investigation, we found another access point on one of the attic vents.

How We Got Rid of the Raccoon in Wilmington

After the inspection, we scheduled raccoon trapping and removal that same day. We set a cage trap inside the attic, away from everything else. Raccoons can sneak their hands through the cage bars and tear up anything they can reach. We checked the trap daily and removed the raccoon quickly.

After we ensured all raccoons were gone, we sealed the house. We installed a new vent around the entire soffit, covered the box fans, and repaired the exterior hole. We removed the raccoon feces and outside debris and applied santization agents to decontaminate the area. Finally, our ectoparasite treatments eliminated any parasites, such as ticks or fleas, the raccoon may have introduced into the home.
