    Armadillo Description

Armadillo In TrapThere are over 50 million armadillos in North America. The Nine-Banded Armadillo, commonly known as the Texas Armadillo, is the only species found within the U.S. Armadillos are one of the few animals who consume fire ants as part of their diet. Such ability can make armadillos beneficial to humans. Armadillos are notorious diggers and most armadillo damage will occur as a result of their rooting. Armadillo damage can go unnoticed for long periods of time causing extensive damage to yards, garden, and homes. It is helpful to hire a professional to not only humanely remove the armadillo but to examine and repair your home to eliminate the chance of future armadillo damage.

    Armadillo Habitats

Armadillos like to burrow near dense environments with shady cover such as brush, woodlands, forests and areas adjacent to creeks and rivers. They prefer sandy or loam soils that are loose and porous, they will also inhabit areas having cracks, crevices, and rocks that are suitable for burrows. Armadillos can be very unpleasant guest to have near your home, as they are noisy, tend to have a musky odor and commonly leave droppings in their rooting location.

    Armadillo Entry

If you are experiencing armadillo problem in your home or place of business, chances are these critters have already established multiple unobserved burrows. Characteristic signs of armadillo activity are shallow holes, 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.6 cm) deep and 3 to 5 inches (7.6 to 12.7 cm) wide, when they dig for food.
