Q&A with Branch Manager Tracy Sullivan
What are some of the most common wildlife issues that homeowners face in your area?
Pine, fox, and flying squirrels, raccoons, bats, woodpeckers, mice, moles/voles/shrews, chipmunks, groundhogs, opposum, muskrats, birds in vents, ants/spiders.
How do the seasons affect wildlife activity in your area?
All seasons are active in variable ways - winter tends to bring more mice inside, winter/spring increased raccoon calls as they mate & raise their young. Bats, birds, moles & chipmunks run rampant spring through fall. Muskrats and all species of squirrels are consistently busy & destructive here year round.
Any prevention tips for residents in your area?
Call us early to inspect and seal up your home BEFORE an issue arises. Cut back trees from siding/gutters to reduce access to roofline. Rodent baiting/monitoring programs. Pest control applications, at least quarterly.
Do NOT feed feral cats or wildlife around your home, unless you expect them to be a regular guest! Call the experts! Don't frustrate or endanger yourself by trying to take care of wildlife concerns on your own.
When should homeowners call Critter Control?
ANY TIME! When purchasing/building a new home, have us come inspect to identify potential entry points before an issue arises.
Already there? Call us as soon as you start hearing noises or suspect unwanted guests. Nuisances preventing you from enjoying your lawn/patio during warm weather. Landscaping being disrupted. Annually, have us inspect for any new weak spots.
