Critter Control Ranked #20 In Top 100 U.S. Pest Management Companies. 06/06/2007
Traverse City, MI — June 6, 2007 - Pest Control Technology Magazine’s annual ‘Top 100’ list for 2006 was just released, and Critter Control, Inc. was ranked as the 20th largest pest control firm in the U.S. “It’s pretty amazing considering less than 1-2% of the work we do is related to insects,” notes staff biologist and VP of Communications Sean Carruth.

Critter Control’s founder and CEO Kevin Clark shares the credit with his 100+ franchisees, who helped grow the business at a 19% growth rate in 2006. "We believe we’ll see this strong growth pattern for years to come. We have a great team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about integrating education, prevention and habitat modification with full-service, environmentally sound and ecologically responsible wildlife management solutions,” said Clark. Clark started the business 25 years ago when he pulled his first raccoon out of a smoke stack as a chimney sweep. He incorporated, trademarked the name and began franchising in 1987, then added an average of one new office per month during the 1990’s.

Wildlife damage complaints are increasing all across the United States, and it looks like there is no end in sight to future growth potential, according to Dr. James Armstrong. Armstrong is the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service wildlife scientist and Auburn Professor of Wildlife Sciences. He recently headed up an international team of wildlife biologists studying issues associated with human/animal interactions, and predicts, "These types of challenges will emerge as one of the world's major environmental issues within the next few decades.”
